SUPERVALU Expo Welcomes Gavin DeGraw!

Each year at the Expo, we join together with our vendors, retailers and employees for a fundraiser evening that benefits Feeding America. This year’s entertainment for the Wednesday, July 25, evening event will be Gavin DeGraw, a multi-platinum selling singer, performer and songwriter. DeGraw first broke through with the 2003 release of his debut album, Chariot, which sold over 1 million copies, earned platinum certification, and yielded three hit singles: “I Don’t Want To Be,” “Follow Through,” and the title-track, “Chariot.” Gavin was nominated for his first Grammy for “We Both Know,” the song he co-wrote with Colbie Calliat for the 2013 film, “Safe Haven.”  Since then he has been consistently touring around the world, including sold out dates with the legendary Billy Joel and hit a milestone with the release of his first greatest hits compilation titled Finest Hour in the fall of 2014.  Gavin’s fifth studio album, Something Worth Saving, released last September through his longtime label RCA Records, and featured the hit single “She Sets The City On Fire.” DeGraw is currently on the road in the U.S., where he is performing stripped down sets and diving deep into his catalogue.

The event is open to all registered Expo attendees.

Get Your Learning on at Education Day!

The SUPERVALU National Expo will kick off with its big Education Day, featuring workshops on topics that span the grocery industry and entire store. This year’s topic overviews and session schedule  are now available.

Attendees at these workshops walk away with practical information and tools that can help them realize immediate results and impact their bottom line. It’s a great opportunity for retailers and the SUPERVALU team to discuss relevant topics and share best practices with one another in an environment where everyone is focused on sales and innovation.

Retailers can pre-register for their topics of interest when they register for the Expo. If you’ve already registered and want to change your pre-registration for Education Day topics, please find your registration confirmation email and modify your registration.

Captain “Sully” Sullenberger Announced as Keynote

SUPERVALU is excited to welcome Captain “Sully” Sullenberger, to the 2018 National Expo as our keynote speaker! Sullenberger has been dedicated to the pursuit of safety for his entire adult life. While he is best known for serving as Captain during what has been called the “Miracle on the Hudson,” Sullenberger is a safety expert, speaker, and author. He currently serves on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Advisory Committee for Automation in Transportation. He still flies privately.

Born in Denison, Texas, Sullenberger pursued his childhood love of aviation, learning to fly at 16. Upon graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy, he served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, then was an airline pilot, instructor, and accident investigator until his retirement in March 2010.

He became internationally renowned on January 15, 2009 when he and his crew safely guided US Airways Flight 1549 to an emergency water landing in New York City’s frigid Hudson River. Sullenberger and his crew received international acclaim for their actions, including the passage of a Congressional resolution recognizing their bravery. Sullenberger was ranked second in TIME's "Top 100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009” and was awarded the French Legion of Honour.

Sullenberger is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters and also wrote Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders. Clint Eastwood directed the major motion picture about Sullenberger, titled Sully, based on Highest Duty, with Tom Hanks in the lead role. The film was released to critical acclaim in September 2016. Highest Duty has been republished as Sully: My Search for What Really Matters.

Join us at the 2018 National Expo to hear Sullenberger share his experiences and insights on how to achieve the highest levels of performance, reliability, and safety through effective crisis management, continuous learning, leadership, and culture.
